Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant and a natural inhibitor of glucose metabolism. As ascorbic acid, it helps in metabolic processes, in the formation of enzymes and in tissue repair. It is also involved in bone formation by promoting collagen production.

The recommended daily amount should not exceed 10% of the daily kilocalories of the dog's usual diet.
